Family holidays are usually all about chilling and relaxing. There's no better way to relax than in and around a swimming pool. The answer to this question is often dependent on where, in France, the property is located. Once you start to visit areas where the temperature is higher than 20 degrees c you may find a pool indispensable. With many parts of France far exceeding this figure, a pool can often be essential. Staying at a hotel or campsite might mean that there are a whole set of rules to be followed. Self catering gites and cottages usually are very relaxed about  rules and only a few simple but obvious ones need to be followed. It goes without saying the taking glass near the pool should not be allowed. A sliver of broken glass is impossible to see underwater and the pool would have to be drained to clear any such debris. Children should always be supervised by a responsible adult and not be left unattended. Beach towels should be used to cover sunbeds to stop sun cream rubbing off on the cushions. As you can see, basic pool rules will make everyone's life easier and safer.
