Balade au fil de l’Eau

Welcome aboard the Rabaska, a real Indian-style canoe which will take you on a voyage back in time in the wake of the Gabariers, the old-time Dordogne boatmen who carried the river trade between the High Dordogne and Bordeaux.

Rabaska is an authentic 30-foot Canadian cargo canoe, with a 5-foot beam, carrying up to 15 passengers and embarking from the Quay at Port Sainte Foy Your state-qualified skipper has 30 years experience. He will guide you downstream in perfect safety, sharing with you his vast knowledge of the prolific bird life of the Dordogne – kingfishers, grey herons, cormorants and swans. As you paddle along, you will discover the beautiful and varied scenery, the many villages and the chateaux which are so much part of the colourful history of the Dordogne Valley.

After a leisurely 3 hours or so, you will arrive at the historic port of Pessac, where your minibus will be waiting to take you back to Port Sainte Foy.

Make a day of it – Full day schedules with a picnic stop or lunch in a restaurant are available on request. Personalised itineraries can also be arranged. The trip is suitable for handicapped people
