Chatauu de Angers

Chatauu de Angers

The Chateau de Angers lies at the heart of the city of Angers in the Pays de la Loire region of France. The huge shale and limestone fortress was built by King Louis lX in the 13th century.

Once inside the walls of this medieval castle with its 17 towers you discover the elegant buildings and tranquil gardens of the Dukes of Angers.

The Chateau de Angers also houses the Tapestry of the Apocalypse, a late 14th century tapestry, woven in 1375. At a length of 104 metres, this is the largest Medieval tapestry in the world.
