This preserved steam railway runs between Martel and Saint Denis Lès Marte. It was founded in 1991, the objective being the preservation and the tourist operation of the railway line and the restoration of rolling stock. This part of the railway line from Bordeaux to Aurillac was built between 1880 and 1884, and opened for service in 1889. The line was closed in 1980, and in 1991 a group of railfans, desiring to preserve this ” masterpiece ” formed an association that, after years of work, re-opened the line in 1997.
Named “Truffadou” because during the years between the two World wars it was used to transport truffles coming from Martel’s market.
