Le Jardin de Berchigranges

Le Jardin de Berchigranges

They moved mountains in order to create their Eden high up in the Vosges!

During 20 years of relentless work, tons of granite were moved, 3,000 spruce trees cut down and thousands of cubic meters of earth brought in. The landscape was remodelled and sculpted, water was tamed and 4,000 varieties of plants were selected, searched for and acclimatised.

At 650m altitude, the old quarry was transformed into an opulent plant paradise where species from North Sea beaches encounter those from the Himalayas. The result is a joyful muddle of plants normally found at altitudes from 0 to 4,000m.

Monique and Thierry deny that their project was given careful consideration. Each year they add a new, even more original piece to the puzzle which is already very complex. The result is a truly unique creation.
The association of textures, colours, shapes and perfumes accompanied by the  music of nature give rise to many emotions and feelings.

Just let yourself be inspired by the wonder of the various scenes in this magical plant theatre.

Animals are not allowed into the garden nor are picnics permitted. Le Jardin de Berchigranges regrets that it may be difficult for people in wheelchairs or children in puschairs to visit the garden
