Close to the Loire Valley, the BIOPARC of Doué la Fontaine is a world’s unique troglodyte site.
Located in a shelled sedimentary rock quarry, the park provides a completely immersive experience with its luxuriant vegetation, watered by numerous waterfalls. The falun, a regional typical sedimentary rock formed from marine deposits more than 11 million years ago, is a friable rock that enables the design of sceneries adapted to each species.
Covering 38 acres, the BIOPARC offers two geographically organised levels, based around islands and vast animal spaces.
