Set in 20 hectares the zoo has over 700 animals and is passionate abouts its role in conservation.
As a member of the European Association of Zoos and Aquariums one of its most important missions is the establishment of breeding programs with the intention of reintroducing animals into their natural surroundings. Zoo La Boissiere du Dore actively participates in 28 European Breeding Programmes.
Information panels around the zoo inform the public about conservation programs supported by the zoo and environmental issues related to conservation.
During July and August visitors are invited to accompany zoo staff at feedings where they get both the chance to interact with animals and have any questions answered.
There is also a playground and the petting zoo located near the restaurant for children.
