Zoo des Sables d’Olonne is the second largest tourist attraction in the Vendée, with over 160,000 visitors a year visiting the 4-hectare oasis of greenery on the Vendée coast.
The zoo is home to around 360 animals from more than 40 threatened species, including gibbons, giraffes, pandas, lions and parrots. Multicoloured lorikeets can be found in the Oceania aviary.
Zoo des Sables has adopted a pioneering environmentally-friendly philosophy, and has been awarded the ISO 14001 environmental standard.
The Zoo of Les Sables introduces a new type of Zoo by marrying a respect for its environment, with the protection of its exotic biodiversity and making its visitors aware of good eco-citizenship.
