If you create a user account with GiteSearch it will enable you to add properties to your shortlist and access them again at a later date.

What do you do with my information?

We hold your details in accordance with the principles of the Data Protection Act. We will never pass your details to any third party outside our company.

Can I book a gite on your website?

We do not handle bookings for gite owners. When you have found your ideal gite use our contact form to get in touch with the gite owner to arrange a booking directly with them.

Why can’t I book through gite search?

We believe that by dealing directly with the owner you can ensure the gite meets all of your requirements before booking.

How do I contact a gite owner?

Every gite listed on GiteSearch has its own contact form. This will send your message directly to the gite owner who will reply directly to you.

What do I do if I don’t get an answer to my enquiry?

We encourage owners to reply promptly to any enquiries that they receive via GiteSearch. Sometimes an email reply from an owner can be delivered into your Spam or Junk folder. If you haven’t received a response we suggest checking these folders.

Why is a gite I was interested in no longer showing on GiteSearch?

When an owner updates their gite listing it is temporarily taken offline and reviewed by the GiteSearch team. If a gite is no longer showing on the site please check again later. However, sometime gites are permanently removed from GiteSearch by an owner.

How can I make sure that my booking, made with an owner via GiteSearch, is secure?

Any communication you have with an owner should contain their full contact details. If you wish to check their identity there are various ways to do this:

  • Telephone the owner to prove the number given is legitimate.
  • If the owner has a website check to see if the details match those on GiteSearch.
  • Ask the owner for a full set of terms and conditions.
  • Ensure that you have signed a booking contract. Some owners will not require that you do this however GiteSearch advises that you should insist on a formal contract.
  • When making payments directly into the owners bank account ensure that the bank concerned is a reputable organisation usually located within the owners country of residence.
  • If paying by check make sure that your check is made payable to the listed owner or company and not a third party.
  • Never send cash as a payment.
  • An owner should not ask for your bank details to accept a booking.
  • Save any correspondence between yourself and the owner.

Will GiteSearch ever charge me any money?

GiteSearch takes no part in any payment between you and a gite owner. We will never send you an invoice or any other demand for payment. If you ever receive such a demand, please report it to us immediately as this may be a scam.
