Set in a small tranquil village in the midst of vineyards, sunflower fields and woodland this ex residence of a french ambassador is only 5 minutes from supermarkets, cafes and boulangeries. The village lies between Cognac the home of the famous brandy and Angouleme the regions capital. It is also only 5 minutes from Jarnac with its' bars restaurants and kayaking on the river Charente as well as being near to the wonderful west coast with it's stunning beaches and famous seafood restaurants.

The main house covers three floors and has 7 double bedrooms four of which have twin beds and all of which are decorated in individual styles.

On the ground floor is a fully fitted kitchen, a breakfast room with antique tiled floor and a study and lavatory on one side of the hallway, whilst on the other side is a double sitting room with an original fireplace and TV and DVD. Above the kitchen is a fully equipped utility room with washing machine, sink and drying facilities.

One wing of the house is a large dining area containing the original alambic used to distill cognac until recently. This also has its' own kitchen with up to date fixtures and appliances including American fridge with ice maker dishwasher and two ovens and hobs.

The grounds are totally walled and comprise a large cobbled courtyard entered by electronic gates, with a centre piece fountain and covered parking. 2 hectares of parkland and a pool which is 12 metres x 6 metres with an electronic cover.

[post_content] => Le Cognassier and Le Cerisier were originally 18th Century stone barns and we have converted them into beautiful self catering holiday accommodation.

Decorated and furnished to an exceptionally high standard, the gites are brimming with charm and character. With families in mind, we have blended modern comforts with our quirky vintage finds to create stylish and relaxed interiors which are totally family friendly.

Set within a blissfully tranquil, walled garden the holiday cottages offer a haven of peace and an opportunity to escape to the countryside and experience the simple pleasures of French life. Within striking distance of large towns and the stunning beaches of the Atlantic coast, they also provide the perfect base for exploring the beautiful, unspoilt region of the Charente - Maritime.

Our aim is for you to completely relax here so we have equipped each gite with everything you need to feel totally at home during your family holiday.

The gardens are safe and child friendly with a large lawned area for children and toddlers to roam freely and to play on the swings, slide or build châteaux in the sandpit. The swimming pool is heated and fenced for safety. We welcome children of all ages from babies to teenagers and have provided everything you need for the perfect French family holiday including a bottle of chilled champagne for the adults.Combining modern comforts with vintage charm, Le Cerisier has everything you need to feel at home. Colour schemes in blue, linen, and French grey are easy on the eye and as always our vintage finds give this gite a very stylish look. There are large comfy sofas in the sitting room to flop into after a hard day at the pool.

The private garden is situated at the back of the cottage and is perfect for relaxing in total peace. The kitchen diner overlooks the main gardens which are walled and gated.

Upstairs, the twin room overlooks the pool and the other 2 look out onto open countryside.

[post_content] => 2 Bedroomed Ugni-Blanc was the original Cognac store and on entry the aroma of the "Angels Share" prevailed. Unfortunately this has gone the way of the Cognac, but many features of the original building remain along with the solid oak beams and new oak floors.

The ground floor bedroom has a built-in wardrobe, double bed and en suite multi-jet shower cabinet, vanity and wc. Towels are included but we request that you do not use them by the pool.

The upstairs bedroom has both a double and a single bed with ample space for a cot or additional bed with similar en suite facilities to the ground floor bedroom.

The open plan, air conditioned living area is comfortable and spacious with its vaulted ceiling. Seating 6 with ease and includes television with satellite and dvd along with a hifi unit. For the cooler periods there is a large wood burning stove.

The kitchen is well equipped and includes a dishwasher, micro-wave, fridge-freezer, cooker, kettle , coffee maker & tea towels. Outside to the patio with table & chairs and a BBQ

[post_content] => Recently restored and renovated, Le Gîte du Puits is very homely and comfortable, sleeping up to four people. Located in the grounds of a former Cognac distillery, the gîte adjoins La Ferme and there is an interconnecting door, which is kept locked unless the same party books both properties.

This Charentaise stone building has been beautifully renovated with great care and attention, whilst retaining all its atmosphere and charm.
All the accommodation is conveniently arranged on the ground floor.

The kitchen and dining room - The front door of the gîte leads into the fully fitted kitchen and dining room with tiled floor, original exposed beams and an antique wooden ceiling.

The lounge - The lounge offers plenty of comfortable seating and an ancient stone well feature which is now sealed but is illuminated at night. There are exposed beams and a tiled floor with rugs. One wall in the lounge reveals the original Charentaise stone and there is also a comfortable double sofa-bed.

Full-length French windows deliver plenty of light and open out onto the patio.

Bedrooms - The main bedroom is furnished with twin beds but these can be made up as a king size bed. The bedroom has exposed beams and one wall features the Charentaise stone. The bathroom has a tiled floor and is equipped with a walk-in shower, hand basin and WC. There is always plenty of hot water.

With the option of full central heating, Le Gîte du Puits is a perfect place to stay at any time of the year.

[post_content] => This traditional French owned self catering gite lies in the tiny hamlet of Corpeteau
just 5 miles east of the beautiful historic town of St Jean D'Angely in the Charente
maritime region of Western France. An easy 4 hour drive from the port of St Malo
and an easy 1 hours drive from the airport of La Rochelle. The gite sleeps four in
two bedrooms, a double and a twin. It has an open plan ground floor with kitchen,
dining and living areas, a shower room and an outdoor terrace overlooking a large
garden. It lies at the back of the French owners own home and therefore has use of
the owners swimming pool. It is perfect for a family with children who are looking for
peace and quiet but also want to experience the real France
and have the rare opportunity of mixing with the locals.

The open plan downstairs has lounge, dining area kitchen with exposed thick stone
walls. The lounge has a television (french language) and has a feature Charentaise
fireplace.

It has a tiled floor which helps keep the cottage cool in summer. The cottage is
typically charentaise and has been renovated to a high standard and fitted with
modern facilities to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. The kitchen is
equipped with all the essentials.

The swimming pool is 9m by 4m and has Roman steps leading down into it. It is surrounded by a terrace with sun loungers. It is located at the side of Eric and Maries house, just to the front of the cottage so is easily accessed It has an alarm to conform to the French regulations but it is not enclosed which may be a concern to parents of very young children. It is not often used by Eric and Marie themselves as they are very busy, but it is used occasionally by their daughter so it is not totally for the exclusive use of the cottage guests. Its location is in front of the Cartauds outdoor eating area, they are happy for you to use the pool area even when they
are eating but please be polite and friendly and considerate with regards to noise. Eric is a viticulteur, he makes wine, Pineau (the local tipple and Cognac) he has a small 'shop' on the other side of his house where you can taste his produce and if you are friendly and chatty you may even get an exclusive visit into his small wine making area.
