The village of Cabrerets is home to Grottes du Pech Merle caves which house prehistoric cave paintings, dating back 25,000 years, in addition to other vestiges from the 'cave-man' era as well as many beautiful geological features, the remarkableness of these popular caves has recently led to this site being designated a 'Grand Site du Midi-Pyrenees'.
Nestled in the cliffs of this charming village you will find semi-troglodite houses and a ruined chateau dating back to the year 700 AD, as well as a stunning 15th century chateau that provides a backdrop to a popular river-side swimming area.
There is an array of outdoor pursuits just here, you can hire kayaks and kayak through the stunning peaceful valley, or partake in adventure activities at the local activity centre where you can arrange rock-climbing, caving, canyoning, 'accro-branch' (adventure course in the cliffs and trees) and mountain-biking. There is also a horse-riding centre in the village where you can take a series of beautiful treks. Otherwise, you can take peaceful walks in the natural surroundings, there is some beautiful countryside as the village is situated in a natural park ('Le Parc Naturel Causses du Quercy') which hosts hundreds of walking and cycling tracks among abundant flora and fauna. A 2 bedroom gîte with one standard double room and one twin room. Plenty of storage space is available. All bed and household linen is provided.
The large open-plan lounge, kitchen and dining area are lightand airy. The French windows open out onto the covered sun terrace and outside dining area. Equipped to a high standard incorporating comfortable leather furniture. A TV (French satellite), DVD player and CD/Radio system are provided. WiFi is provided free of charge.
In the modern fully fitted kitchen there is a fridge/freezer,microwave oven, cooker with mixed gas/electric hob and electric oven - together with plenty of storage space, preparation surface and a stainless steel sink area. The shower room consists of a shower unit, wash basin with mirror, storage units and heated towel rail. The WC is in a separate room next to the shower room. All towels are provided.
In the cellar utility area a washing machine, iron, ironing board and hoover are available. The dedicated garden area for this gîte is at least 100m² with a shared BBQ area.
