[post_content] => WELCOME TO LE MANOIR DES COUTS!
Nestled in a tiny hamlet, a few minutes from the river Dive, within the Natura 2000 wildlife protected zone, this charming 16th century Manor house is an ideal base for those who wish to relax and unwind in full privacy since there are no other gites on the premises and the owners live 2 miles away, easily available if required.
The careful restoration of this special, historic home brought back to life many of its hidden architectural treasures : beautifully carved windows with interior stone seats, a gothic fireplace, an arched stone sink as well as impressive flagstones and beams. The furniture, paintings and subtle colour schemes have been carefully selected to suit the house's character . An article concerning this house can be found in the January 2006 issue of French Property News Magazine.
The accommodation sleeps 6 in 3 bedrooms and a baby (cot, high chair, baby bath provided free of charge), children are welcome.
The garden:
The pretty, enclosed garden is very private and sheltered, a veritable heat trap! It has been restored with equal passion : enjoy the scent of old roses, honeysuckle, lavender, lily of the valley, help yourself to the Moroccan mint from the 16th century style herb garden, dine al fresco under the pergola shaded by an ancient vine, enjoy a barbecue and catch a glimpse or listen to the many birds which visit it. (hoopoes, bustards, cuckoos, nightingales, barn owls, falcons, buzzards, herons.)The private heated above ground pool (6,40mx4mx1,20m) is just right to refresh you on a hot sunny day and is ideal for children who will enjoy endless fun and will be able to run around the garden, safely.

[post_content] => "Peaceful", "relaxing", "comfortable". These are just some of the comments our guests have used to describe their stay at the cottage. We invite you to come and see for yourself.
Our spacious cottage looks out onto an attractive courtyard and has its own private garden with access to a further six acres to explore. Ideal for couples, families or groups of friends, the cottage is a countryside haven and yet we are an easy drive away from châteaux and numerous attractions in both the beautiful Loire Valley and Deux Sèvres regions.
It is our aim that you will be as comfortable as possible and thoroughly enjoy your holiday. We are very happy to help with information on local attractions, booking restaurants etc. However if you prefer to be totally independent, that is absolutely fine too!
The village of Cersay is only one kilometre away with a general store and post office, bakers, and chemist. Just a two minute drive or a ten minute walk and you can enjoy freshly baked croissants for breakfast. You can also visit a goat and snail farm in the village and buy the produce.
We are only 15 minutes drive from the larger towns of Thouars or Doué La Fontaine.
There are excellent local markets in the surrounding area. Local vignerons sell wine directly and tastings can be arranged. Quiet country roads and lanes make this location a perfect base for a cycling or walking holiday; it is also a bird-watcher's paradise.

[post_content] => A quirky, charming little house in a romantic setting overlooking the mediaeval town of Confolens in the Poitou-Charentes region of France, La Petite Tour (The Little Tower) is the perfect spot for a romantic weekend or short break for two. It's equally suitable for singles. A place to chill out, re-charge the batteries, find inspiration or just watch the world go by.
The building (or part of it) dates back to to the 11th Century, when it formed part of the Porte Saint Michel gates, leading from the area of St. Michel into the mediaeval town of Confolens. A gate hook remains on the wall to this day, and the bulding is classified as an ancient monument.
It's unclear exactly when the building was first used as a house, but when the present owners acquired it in 2010, it hadn't been occupied for about twenty years. Today, the interior of the house has been transformed into a sympathetically designed, cosy living space, combining modern living requirements with the charm of some original features.
Within about 45 minutes' drive of Limoges airport and 1 hour 10 minutes of Poitiers, with easy access to the A10 motorway network and with TGV (high speed) rail connections to Eurostar from Limoges, Poitiers or Angouleme railway stations, visiting the lovely old town of Confolens is easy.

[post_content] => This traditional French owned self catering gite lies in the tiny hamlet of Corpeteau
just 5 miles east of the beautiful historic town of St Jean D'Angely in the Charente
maritime region of Western France. An easy 4 hour drive from the port of St Malo
and an easy 1 hours drive from the airport of La Rochelle. The gite sleeps four in
two bedrooms, a double and a twin. It has an open plan ground floor with kitchen,
dining and living areas, a shower room and an outdoor terrace overlooking a large
garden. It lies at the back of the French owners own home and therefore has use of
the owners swimming pool. It is perfect for a family with children who are looking for
peace and quiet but also want to experience the real France
and have the rare opportunity of mixing with the locals.
The open plan downstairs has lounge, dining area kitchen with exposed thick stone
walls. The lounge has a television (french language) and has a feature Charentaise
fireplace.
It has a tiled floor which helps keep the cottage cool in summer. The cottage is
typically charentaise and has been renovated to a high standard and fitted with
modern facilities to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. The kitchen is
equipped with all the essentials.
The swimming pool is 9m by 4m and has Roman steps leading down into it. It is surrounded by a terrace with sun loungers. It is located at the side of Eric and Maries house, just to the front of the cottage so is easily accessed It has an alarm to conform to the French regulations but it is not enclosed which may be a concern to parents of very young children. It is not often used by Eric and Marie themselves as they are very busy, but it is used occasionally by their daughter so it is not totally for the exclusive use of the cottage guests. Its location is in front of the Cartauds outdoor eating area, they are happy for you to use the pool area even when they
are eating but please be polite and friendly and considerate with regards to noise. Eric is a viticulteur, he makes wine, Pineau (the local tipple and Cognac) he has a small 'shop' on the other side of his house where you can taste his produce and if you are friendly and chatty you may even get an exclusive visit into his small wine making area.
